- Use preparation and practice to perfect your presentation.
- Effectively use your voice and speech pattern to have your message resonate.
- Adjust the “tools” in the room to maximize your delivery.
- Capture and retain the attention of your audience.
- Manage the “jitters” and use them to your advantage
- Prepare for an interview versus a presentation, and manage questions.
- Share a brief presentation (one to three minutes), with the group applying what you learned. (Optional)
- Share your speaking experiences—both successes and challenges—with each other to learn and grow.
The Presenters
Jackie Judd: Emmy-award-winning journalist Jackie Judd spent her career in front of a television camera or radio microphone and now helps people find their way to excellence when speaking to groups - large, small, or something in between. Jackie worked for many years as a correspondent for ABC News, the PBS NewsHour, and NPR. Now, as a consultant, she has engaged with hundreds of people—ranging from a Fortune 100 CEO to human rights activists around the globe—guiding them toward successful public speaking.
Carol Koby: An experienced broadcaster and moderator, Carol Koby has had an extensive career in communications, most recently as Executive Producer/Host of the long-running radio program "All About Living" and Moderator of the cable television program "Picture of Health" for UW Health. A pioneer in television journalism, Carol was the first Women’s Director at WITI-TV, Milwaukee, and served in many on-air roles at WKOW-TV in Madison. Carol continues to use her public speaking skills by moderating in-person and Zoom forums for the League of Women Voters of Wisconsin.
