TEMPO Madison's Kiva Lending Team is excited to announce a financial partnership with the Wisconsin Women's Business Initiative Corporation (WWBIC) KIVA team. The partnership aims to get money into the hands of women seeking to start or grow their businesses. While the percentage of women-owned businesses is on the rise, many barriers still exist, including challenges securing financing.
TEMPO Madison's Kiva Lending Committee reviews the KIVA Wisconsin requests at KIVA.org, and the WWBIC KIVA team sends recommendations to potential businesses for the committee to review. The committee meets monthly in person and reviews loan requests by email to decide which loans to fund using the dollars in our portfolio.
100% of all funds received are used to provide loans to women entrepreneurs in Wisconsin. The Kiva Lending Team has loaned $3,525 to 17 women-owned businesses in Wisconsin and Dane County. TEMPO Madison members can add funds to our investment pool. If you would like to add funds for future loans, contact the committee leader, Vicki Bernards, at vicki.bernards@wpsic.com or tempomadison@tempomadison.org
