Join us on Tuesday, August 10, 2021 at 12:00 p.m. for a discussion of MMoCA Post-Pandemic and Beyond with Christina Brungardt, the Gabriele Haberland Director of Madison Museum of Contemporary Art

While balancing looking back and moving forward, nonprofit organizations must focus on the vital nature of their work, service to their communities, and fulfillment of their mission. Museums, especially those of similar size and scope to the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art (MMoCA), provide a space to engage in conversations about our current world. They allow for moments of reflection, calm, inspiration, and motivation for envisioning the future. In the last year, new challenges and opportunities presented themselves. While this has been a difficult time, it has also highlighted MMoCA’s path forward based on its history as a community arts organization.

About Christina Brungardt:

Christina Brungardt was recently appointed the Gabriele Haberland Director of the Madison Museum of Art (MMoCA) in Wisconsin. She comes to MMoCA from Houston, Texas, where she served as the Deputy Director of Contemporary Arts Museum Houston (CAMH). Focusing on administrative best practices, strategic planning, and financial oversight, Brungardt also stepped into the role of Interim Director at CAMH to provide key leadership during a period of transition for the organization. Throughout her career Brungardt has served in a variety of capacities in the arts, including working for galleries in New York and Texas; serving as the Finance Manager of Neue Galerie New York Museum for German and Austrian Art; and teaching art history at Bronx Community College, Hunter College, and the University of North Texas.
