For more than 20 years, Milwaukee Women inc has championed the cause of transforming the quality and composition of boards in Wisconsin. Time has proven that building equitable boards is not only the right thing to do but it’s a business imperative that drives better decision making and performance. What progress has been made over the past two decades in diversifying Wisconsin boardrooms? What are the opportunities are on the horizon and what challenges need to be addressed?

About Lori Syverson:

Lori Syverson serves as president/CEO of Milwaukee Women inc (MWi). MWi is a 20-year-old organization of executives determined to change the quality and composition of corporate boards to enhance the performance of public and private companies, with a focus on women and women of color.

Since 2003, the foundation of MWi has been providing annual research on the number of women serving on corporate boards.

Previous to joining MWi, Syverson served 11 years as president of the Edina (MN) Chamber of Commerce, which is also home to Explore Edina, the city’s visitor bureau and The Edina Innovation Lab.

Through her volunteer work in hospice, she learned that in our last days of life our regrets center around two areas: relationships and not having followed our heart. As a result, Syverson is passionate about helping people find purpose in life and has worked with purpose guru, internationally known speaker, life coach and best-selling author Richard Leider. She also worked with AARP and other thought leaders around the country as a Barry Rand Fellow, tasked with developing purpose programming around the country.

Syverson received her undergraduate degree from Marquette University (Milwaukee, WI) in journalism and earned her Master’s in Business Administration from Alverno College in Milwaukee, WI. Her background includes print journalism, media relations, marketing and public relations.
